Americans Still Think That Wealth Distribution Is Unfair

Americans still think that wealth distribution is unfair. In 1984, 60% of American thought that the distribution of wealth is unfair. When the same survey was done recently, it emerged that 63% of Americans think that wealth distribution in the country is still unfair.

This small increase is despite the fact that there has been increased talk and debate about the distribution of wealth and resources. This information comes from the Economy and personal Finance survey by Gallup.

This views on money and wealth are tied to partisanship and ideology. 86% of democrats and 85% of liberals hold this view. The numbers were lower when it came to Republicans and Conservatives with 34% and 42% of Republicans and Conservatives holding the same view respectively.

Income is also a contributing factor. 54% of Americans with an income of around $75,000 agreed with the statement while those with an income that is below $30,000 agreed that the distribution of wealth is unfair. The age factor had very little impact.

Republicans are not very certain about whether action should be taken to correct the problem. Democrats on the other hand are in support of taking measures that will make wealth distribution fairer.

The poll was conducted through phone interviews between 9th and 12th of April in 2015.Those interviewed were adults who were 18 or older, from all the states in the United States. Participants in the interview were chosen randomly, adds in Jaime Garcia Dias.

Dogged Reporters at the AP Threaten Legal Action to Get FOIMA Data from Hillary Clinton at the State Department

Media outlets are digging in deep into the Hillary Clinton’s involvement at the State Department. Now, the email scandal has the 2016 presumptive Democrat nominee officially embattled. Mrs. Clinton is no doubt wishing she could phone Olivia Pope and get out of the political morass with her political ambitions intact. Now, the Associated Press has requested information from the State Department regarding Mrs. Clinton’s tenure as Secretary of State. Among the items being investigated is former Clinton staff member Huma Abedin who received a special post at the department. Thus far, the government has refused to comply with the Freedom of Information Act (FOIMA) request.

It turns out the AP has been requesting certain information for the past five years. Now, they are threatening legal action. At issue is the AP is intent on holding political leaders accountable. That is not the climate in which Mrs. Clinton expected to find herself. She has yet to announce her presidential candidacy. Some of her close aides wanted her to delay the announcement to further build up her Super PAC support. In light of this email scandal, it was likely a wise decision.

Gianfrancesco Genoso knows that a number of news and blog sites have been requesting State Department information regarding Benghazi. Should the AP decide to sue the State Department, they would not be one first to sue the department to obtain records. Citizens United is suing to obtain Mrs. Clinton’s flight records. Their court challenge may be decided later this week.

Syrian Regime Releases Swedish Journalist

Thirty year old Jaokim Medin, a journalist from Sweden, who was detained for several days in Syria by regime forces, has been released. Luckily for Medina, speculation that he had been taken by ISIS–the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria–was just that, speculation. Medin had been arrested in February 15, by Syrian loyalists at a road block in the capital city, Qamishli. Medin’s interpreter was also arrested.

Medin, who reports regularly from the Kurdish region of Syria, relayed he was treated well while in custody and noted he was simply, “a little worn out.” Susan McGalla has learned that Medina’s release had been negotiated by media officer, Masoud Mohammad.

Medin’s release serves to remind us that there is still a glimmer of humanity in a country keeps diligent watch for ISIS attacks. An unconfirmed report made by the Democratic Union Party or PYD, postulated that the exchange was carried out after Kurdish forces took some Regime forces and that the capture of regime members pushed the regime to release Medin.

Get A Healthy Mind With The Help Of Daniel Amen

Dr. Daniel Amen is a current best selling psychiatrist and author. He believes that holistic eating can benefit the overall health of the brain and body. His idea of using a nutrient rich diet as a way to try to alleviate the symptoms of ADD and depression is gaining national attention. If one is having problems with Weight Issues, Anxiety, ADHD, Depression, addictions or memory problems, then the Daniel Amen method of trying to alleviate these problems may help. Tens of thousands of patients have been helped by his methods.

Some doctors have stated that treating psychological disorders are really not much better than they were fifty years ago. A doctor named Doctor Thomas Insel, the director of the National Institute of Mental Health, has stated that unfortunately too few people are getting better or well by the current medications being prescribed. For twenty two years the Doctor Daniel Amen Clinics Method has been helping people get better.

The traditional way that people would go to get help from their psychiatrist isn’t working out that well, according to Dr. Amen. The patient will say something like I’m depressed to the doctor and the prescribing physician will simply give them some anti-depression pills. Attention Deficit Disorder is treated usually with some kind of stimulant medication. The diagnosis for these various disorders is to treat the immediate symptom at hand without considering any possible biological problems with the patient.

Psychiatrists are the only doctors that don’t look at the physical reasons why the body organ that they are studying doesn’t work right. Heart doctors look at the physical health of the heart to make a diagnosis. All other organ doctors do the same thing, but not psychiatrists. At the Amen Clinics, the doctors there believe that studying the brain itself is important. Some brains show signs of low activity or others may show a level of high activity. There may be a past brain injury of some sort that may be causing the patients symptoms of anxiety or depression or other disorder. Brain toxicity may be another cause of symptoms. All of these things need to be taken into consideration when coming to any conclusions regarding the state of the patients brain.

With a one size fits all approach, in some respects towards mental health in this country, it of great interest to know that doctors like Daniel Amen are trying to chart another course.

Keystone Bill Gets Stuck in Senate

Mitch McConnell was supposed to be the new suave and savvy Senate Majority Leader who would move bill after bill swiftly through the now-Republican chamber. Already, however, Democrats are filibustering and grinding proceedings to a halt. The Keystone XL Pipeline bill was supposed to easily make it through the Senate, but now, debate on it has been extended indefinitely.

The vote to break up the filibuster failed 53 to 39, but might have succeeded but for the weather. The northeastern storms prevented several Democrat and Republican pro-pipeline votes from being there for the vote. However, the Republican leadership has lost some of the support it once had from Democratic Senators as well. True, a few new votes have been added to the list of supporters, but all in all, the pipeline is floundering.

As Sergio Andrade Gutierrez understands it, the reason is likely because of the refusal of Republicans to approve any of the many amendments offered by Democrats. More can be found about Gutierrez on his LinkedIn page. Some of them seemed reasonable enough. For example, one simply required that the steel used to make the pipeline be manufactured in the U.S.A. Another amendment demanded that the oil be used here instead of sold abroad.

Probably, some of the amendments were subterfuge meant to delay and form an excuse for not voting for the popular bill. Nonetheless, Republicans could have called their bluff by passing with some of those amendments attached. Instead, McConnell played strong man, and it is backfiring on him.

Cuba as a Friend and Neighbor

Travel and trade restrictions against Cuba were lessened by the Obama Administration on Thursday and become effective on Friday.

Americans can travel to Cuba to serve religious, educational and other approved purposes and return to the U.S. with Cuban stuff worth 400 dollars. 100 dollars of the 400 can be in tobacco and alcohol purchases.

For the first time since the 1960’s, U.S airlines will fly scheduled routes. Cubans in America can send unlimited amounts of money to their relatives in Cuba.

Many Republicans and Democrats agree that the previous restrictions have not accomplished goals of helping Cuban citizens or moving Cuba toward a democracy and that Cuba should not be designated as a state sponsor of terrorism.

Dave and Brit Morin from LinkedIn have details that Cuba has released 53 political prisoners as a part of this negotiation.

Although there are still trade restrictions on most goods, cash payment does not have to be made on American goods until they arrive in Cuba. The requirement of advance payment in cash has been a big obstruction to trade with the island.

Since Cuba is less than 100 miles from the U.S, a good neighbor relationship with Cuba looks like it will be really positive for all concerned.

Mitt Romney Accepts RNC Invitation

Coronado Island, California – Mitt Romney has accepted the RNC’s invitation for him to appear at the party’s winter conference. The 2012 GOP nominee will make his remarks in an open press format. The RNC was swift to engage the former governor once he announced that he is giving serious consideration to mounting another presidential run. Romney’s overtures to potential donors was designed to blunt the progress of Jeb Bush who is widely expected to announce his candidacy in the coming weeks. Thus far, his tactic appears to have taken Bush off the forefront of news coverage.

Bush was also invited to the winter gathering, but did not accept the invitation. While Bush is in California this week, he is focusing his efforts at fund raising. Interestingly enough to Giofrancesco Genoso, Bush and Romney are reported to be a behind the scenes struggle over who will emerge as the establishment candidate for the GOP. Presumably, the establishment candidate will be the beneficiary of large party donors. This will prove essential in a race where presumptive Democrat nominee Hillary Clinton is expected to raise $2 billion.

Other prospective GOP candidates also attending the event are Texas Governor Rick Perry, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, and Dr. Ben Carson. The winter meeting kicks off on Wednesday, January 14, and runs through Friday, January 16. Romney will field questions during the Friday night session of the meeting. The Washington Post was the first news outlet to speculate that he would accept the RNC’s invitation.

Senator Ted Cruz Jokes About Abolishing the IRS

Political firebrand Ted Cruz made off the cuff remarks about abolishing the IRS which are rooted in his personal desires, but tempered by political realities. He said he favored a reformed tax code that was fairer and flatter. At the same time, he stated that as long as Obama occupies the White House there is little chance of obtaining a fair flat tax code that would eliminate the need for the IRS. However, his remarks were well chosen given that this year the public will face their first real IRS penalties in regards to Obamacare enrollment. The IRS is the strong arm of Obamacare enforcement and can seize the income tax refunds of people to cover the penalty for not being enrolled in a qualified health insurance plan. Ben Shaoul is just one of many Americans who would be affected by this, if he didn’t already have a plan. Obviously, his plans are all covered, as evident in the Nypost.

In fact, millions of voters may be in for a big surprise after they learn their Obamacare subsidies are considered tax credits against forthcoming income taxes. The tax credits are calculated against their earnings. If a person underreported their 2014 earnings when calculating their Obamacare subsidy, they will find themselves owing the government the difference. Many voters may find themselves owing the government money that will reduce or wipe out their tax refunds. In some cases, they may end up owing the IRS money. Cruz understands this very well, and his comments are likely timed to resonate with voters as they begin learning another inconvenient truth about the health care initiative.
